In February, Ildar Abdrazakov takes on the monumental title role in Alexander Borodin’s defining epic Prince Igor at the Metropolitan Opera in a new production by Dmitri Tcherniakov. The opera, which presents a psychological journey through the mind of its conflicted hero with the founding of the Russian nation as its backdrop, will be presented at the Metropolitan Opera for the first time in nearly 100 years. Ildar joins Oksana Dyka as Yaroslavna, Anita Rachvelishvili as Konchakovna, and Sergey Semishkur as Vladimir Igorevich, with Gianandrea Noseda conducting all performances except for February 21, which will be under the baton of Pavel Smelkov. The performance will be broadcast to more than 1,900 theaters in 64 countries worldwide via the Met in HD series on March 1, 2014.
